Our hats tip to those of us who survived the harsh temperature drop this week in the Midwest. Can you believe the holidays are here?!

My first piece of inspiration came from a 1904 designer, Francois Coty,  who released his first fragrance available for the middle class woman in 1945. Although he did not create the first bottle of fragrance, he was one of the first to advertise his craft. At the time perfume was only to be sold to the upper class. The middle picture shown below was his first ad which depicts a beautiful woman with a feathered tree-like gown with gifts scattered around her. Printed are the words "...And she will have fragrance wherever she goes." To me, this was so inspirational, dramatic and slightly humorous. Coty was fighting for what he felt was a basic human right for woman to have access to affordable perfume regardless of rank. What a beacon of light he must have been in 1945, no?

Secondly, I have been enchanted by the hand crafted, custom made Arabic oil bottles seen floating around Tumblr.  Each vile reminded me of impenetrable war armor or of holding a Fountain-Of-Youth-type potion.

Lastly, the ethereal silhouette of a white peacock has beyond intrigued me.  I am fascinated with the flawless symmetry genetically coded into these creatures. One could not paint a more perfected vision of a white peacock than the beauty of one standing in front of you in person. There is no need. Circling back to designer Francois Coty, do you see how his model's tail end of her evergreen dress falls behind her much like a peacock's tail would?-His model wearing a star crown similar to the natural feathers atop a peacock's head? Relevant. Elegant. Genius.
